A simple setup view for this drill.
Setup
Make a small square with four safe markers. The player starts inside the box, rolls the ball across the body with the sole, then exits through a side with two controlled touches.
Steps
- Start inside the box with the ball close.
- Roll the ball across the body using the sole of one foot.
- Take one touch toward an open side of the box.
- Exit with two controlled touches and turn back in.
- Repeat with the other foot.
Coaching points
- Keep the body low and balanced.
- Roll across the ball, not on top of it.
- Exit only when the ball is close enough for the next touch.
- Use both feet before adding speed.
Common mistakes
- Standing tall and stepping on the ball.
- Rolling the ball too far outside the box.
- Turning every repetition into a race.
- Using only the stronger foot.
Make it easier
Make the box larger and allow the player to stop after each roll.
Make it harder
Call the exit side late or ask for a weak-foot roll before leaving the box.
How to know it is working
The player can roll, exit, and turn back into the box without chasing the ball.
Safety
Use a non-slip surface and flat markers. Keep the box away from furniture, steps, glass, and roads.
