Start With The Surface
Basketball at home depends on the surface. A driveway or court supports dribbling and footwork. A safe wall can support passing. A low-ceiling indoor space may only suit ball handling and form work.
Best Home Basketball Drills
Use Pound Dribble Holds for control, Figure-Eight Ball Wraps for ball handling, Pivot Clock for footwork, and Wall Chest Passes when a safe rebound surface is available.
A 15-Minute Home Routine
Run four minutes of stationary ball control, four minutes of walking dribbles, four minutes of footwork or passing, and two minutes of a fun challenge. Keep the final minute for a calm finish and cleanup.
What Does Not Need A Hoop
Dribbling, ball handling, passing, pivoting, jump stops, and shooting form can all be practised without a basket. Real shooting accuracy still needs a hoop later.
Safety Setup
Keep the ball away from roads, stairs, windows, glass, parked cars, and crowded rooms. Use a dry surface and stop if the child starts slipping or throwing the ball wildly.
