Basketball Mindset

Basketball confidence and motivation advice for children who get nervous, avoid mistakes or lose interest in practice.

Lower The Speed

Many confidence problems are speed problems in disguise. Slow the feet, reduce the distance and let the child feel the ball again.

Make Errors Safe

Use a reset that is easy to understand: freeze, breathe, and start the next repetition. The child should not feel that one mistake has ended the practice.

Keep A Reason To Return

End with a drill the child recognises and can do with some success. A repeatable routine is more valuable than a spectacular challenge that never gets used again.
