Football 1v1 Attacking Drills

Football 1v1 drills that help attackers recognise a defender's position, change direction, and reach a clear target.

Give The Attack A Clear Target

A gate, end line, or small goal tells the attacker what winning the action means. Without a target, 1v1 practice often becomes a collection of moves with no decision attached.

Change Speed After The Move

The move creates the chance, but the change of speed uses it. Keep the first rounds wide enough for the attacker to recover the ball and try again.

Keep Contact Controlled

Youth 1v1 work should teach timing and confidence before it teaches collisions. Start with a passive defender, then add pressure through space and recovery rather than heavy contact.
