Carry inside, take one touch into the shooting lane, and place a low finish toward the far corner.
Setup
Place a starting marker outside the penalty area and a second marker in the channel. The feeder rolls the ball into the attacker's path so the shot can be taken after one touch across the body.
Steps
- Carry the ball toward the inside marker.
- Take one touch across the body into the shooting lane.
- Plant the standing foot beside the ball.
- Shoot low toward the far corner.
- Collect the ball and repeat from the other side.
Coaching points
- Look at the target before the touch.
- Keep the last touch close enough to shoot.
- Strike through the middle of the ball.
- Choose placement before power.
Common mistakes
- Taking too many touches.
- Leaning back at contact.
- Shooting across the body without a target.
- Turning every repetition into a full-power kick.
Make it easier
Remove the feeder and let the player start with a stationary ball.
Make it harder
Add a passive defender or require the player to finish with the weaker foot.
How to know it is working
The player can take a controlled touch into the lane and keep low shots inside the far half of the goal.
Safety
Use a safe goal, check that nobody is behind the target, and stagger repetitions so players are not in the shooting lane.
